Geoff and Pauline Hook at a 2016 cartooning exhibition at State Library Victoria

Legendary Melbourne cartoonist and former Melbourne Press Club president Geoff “Jeff” Hook has died at the age of 89.

Hook's cartoons – with their signature hidden fishing hook - graced the pages of the Sun News-Pictorial and the Herald Sun for almost 30 years and won national and international awards.

He was made a life member of the Melbourne Press Club after serving as the club’s president in 1982-83.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline (seen above at the launch of an MPC cartooning exhibition at State Library Victoria in December 2016) and their five children and nine grandchildren.
