Vale Mike Willesee

Tributes are pouring in for Mike Willesee, celebrated journalist and TV personality, who has died after a long battle with throat cancer.

Famous for his tough but fair interview style - and a gift for pauses that drew his adversaries to verbalise that which they would prefer to withhold - Willesee learned his craft at ABC in the 1960s, first at This Day Tonight and then Four Corners. He  worked with Kerry Packer to establish A Current Affair, and later hosted Willesee for the same network.

In 2017, Mike Willesee was inducted into the Australian Media Hall of Fame at a gala dinner celebrating significant contributors to the development of New South Wales journalism.
