30th Quills: Best Breaking News or Live Coverage, sponsored by The Lottery Corporation

Teegan Dolling, Andrew McCormack and Paul Dowsley of Sunrise and 7NEWS have won the Quill for Best Breaking News or Live Coverage with “Land Forces Live Coverage”.

Judges’ citation:

Sunrise and 7News prepared for this to be a significant breaking news story, and then worked exceptionally as a team to deliver explosive on-the-spot coverage.

Teegan, Andrew and Paul worked under extreme pressure to deliver unparalleled reporting from one of the most violent protests in decades. They were supported by expert camera operators, on the ground and in the air, and producers and presenters who had a deft feel for the story.

The reporting was clear and concise. It detailed the aim of the protestors, the impact on Melburnians who were stuck in the city, and the tactics of police working at the convention.

It is an entry that exemplifies the importance of outstanding teamwork, unusual initiative, and going the extra mile.
