Judges’ Citation:

In Crisis on Country: Inside the neglected village of Cummeragunja, Sarah Lawrence delves into the often overlooked issue facing Aboriginal people in Victoria and New South Wales: housing. Sarah’s report gave a voice and agency to those featured in the story, and showed the importance of developing relationships with communities based on trust and respect. She put enormous effort into speaking to a wide variety of sources and making sense of a complex issue with multiple contributors to show the underlying systemic failures. Coupled with beautiful images and important historical context, the result was a powerful piece of journalism that can bring about discussion and change
