Stephen Fitzpatrick is an inaugural Michael Gordon fellow. He is a former Indigenous affairs editor for The Australian. His essay in The Monthly follows the waves created by the Uluru Statement from the Heart in Australian politics and the movement for an Indigenous voice enshrined in the constitution.
