It’s been a football season that’s been full of surprises, defying tipsters and pundits.

Now, as we get ready for the dash to the last Saturday in September and welcome back the AFLW, we’re delighted to have Laura Kane, the AFL’s Executive General Manager of Football, for a special discussion, joined by renowned sports journalist Caroline Wilson, The Age's chief football writer Jake Niall and SEN's chief sports reporter Sam Edmund.

The event will be moderated by writer, podcaster and sports broadcaster Rana Hussain.

Laura is a graduate of Victoria University (Bachelor of Laws with Honours), and initially worked as a solicitor before North Melbourne Football Club recruited her in 2016 to become Women’s Football and Talent Pathways Manager, before roles as Head of Football Operations and then General Manager Strategy and Football Operations at the club. In this period, she oversaw the introduction of the Kangaroos’ AFLW team and the Arden Street facility redevelopment.

Laura joined the AFL in November 2021 and was appointed to the role of Executive General Manager of Football in August 2023. She is also a life member of the Melbourne University Women’s Football Club, where she was a player, director and president.
