About the panel

Rachael Brown is an investigative journalist with the ABC. She is a three-time Walkley Award winner. She is the creator, investigator and host of the ABC’s pioneer true crime podcast, Trace, and the co-host of Mushroom Case Daily.

Rachael is the ABC’s inaugural Development Executive - True Crime.

Gil Marsden is an Emmy-nominated documentary director, producer and showrunner. Living and working equally between the United States and Australia, his work spans sports, politics, crime and music, with recent highlights including the United States of Scandal with Jake Tapper and the just-announced true crime event series Death Cap for Stan, produced in collaboration with parent studio Dreamchaser Entertainment and global content powerhouse Fifth Season.

Laura Placella is a court reporter for the Herald Sun. She covers a range of court cases for the masthead, from matters in the Magistrates’ Court to major trials in the Supreme Court, including the trial of Erin Patterson.

She led the online and print coverage of the case and co-hosted The Mushroom Cook podcast.
