The retiring chief judge of the Quill Awards, Bernard Teague, has been made a life member of the Melbourne Press Club.

Teague, a former media lawyer and Supreme Court judge, is standing down after 10 years overseeing the integrity of the Quill awards.

Announcing the life membership award at the close of the 2018 Quill Awards dinner, MPC chief executive Mark Baker praised Teague as a lifelong friend of journalism.
