Ahead of the MTC's premiere of The Waiting Room, playwright Kylie Trounson and her father, Prof Alan Trounson, joined us to talk about IVF.
WITH SPECIAL GUEST MODERATOR: RAFAEL EPSTEIN OF 774 ABC
In 1980 Professor Alan Trounson was a key member of the research team that delivered Australia’s first “test tube” baby, the third in the world. In the early 1980s his daughter, Kylie Trounson, was a child caught up in the ethics storm that broke over IVF.
Now - 35 years and more than 200,000 Australian babies born with assisted reproductive technology later - playwright Kylie Trounson has written a personal and powerful play about those momentous days and their impact on her family.
