Since her election as Lord Mayor of Melbourne in May 2018, Sally Capp has faced a diverse range of challenges. From taking the role after the sudden resignation of her predecessor to leading the city during the COVID-19 pandemic, the last two years have been some of the council’s most difficult.
One of Capp’s next challenges is the October 2020 council election, where she will again face a competitive group vying for Melbourne City Council’s top job. Many issues will be debated, from how to lead the city out of the pandemic, to locations of safe injecting rooms and how to manage the city’s growing population.
On 16 September 2020, the MPC held a special with the Lord Mayor in which she will took questions and laid out her vision for the next four years. The event was moderated by club President Nick McKenzie.
