Former MPC President Noel Tennison dies

Veteran journalist, raconteur, PR maestro and former Melbourne Press Club president Noel Tennison has died after a short illness.

Noel was a member of the Melbourne Press Club from its inception 45 years ago and was made a life member after serving as president in 1991-2.

He passed away on Wednesday 8 March, a month after suffering a stroke. He was 86.

Noel launched his autobiography – The Life of Every Party -  at a sold out MPC media lunch in February 2015.

In the book, he claimed to be “the only man in Australian history to have served six different political parties and five trade unions, to have wrestled with the Catholic Church and enjoyed three marriages and six children.”

Noel’s son Jim said there would not be a funeral service. He said family was planning a private cremation in Bendigo.
