Hone your skills at finding and profiling people and confirming crucial details through public records at this special MPC Masterclass event, featuring two of the state’s leading investigative reporters:

Ben Butler is Guardian Australia’s senior business reporter. He has worked on investigations including the Pandora Papers, the looting of Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund 1MDB, and a complex fraud ring run by Melbourne lawyer John Voitin. He has also covered corporate news and inquiries including three into Crown Resorts and the banking royal commission. He has previously worked for The Australian, The Age and the Herald Sun.

Chris Vedelago is an investigative reporter at The Age, where he specialises in reporting on crime and justice issues. His work includes investigations on the nation’s largest toxic waste dumping syndicate, the potentially faulty science underpinning Shaken Baby Syndrome, the militarisation of Victoria Police, and the collapse of Shane Warne’s celebrity charity.

Moderator Richard Willingham will lead discussion during the session. MPC Masterclass events provide a unique opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues in the journalism industry, as well as network with your peers.
