At the first MPC media lunch of 2019, Australian Council of Trade Unions Secretary Sally McManus launched her new book On Fairness, published by Melbourne University Press.

McManus spoke about the true cost of social injustice in contemporary Australia, and took questions from a packed audience.

"Neo-liberalism has led to a situation where people believe Governments are incapable of doing anything about their lives because if the problems are all caused by an “invisible hand”, what is the point? This is how people lose faith in democracy.

"You can try and shoot us (and I am telling you that won’t work), or we can work together to build a better, fairer country. To resurrect the fair go."
