Judges' citation
Anthony Dowsley’s reporting on two big crime stories – the Silk-Miller case and the Lawyer X case – was outstanding. He clearly led the pack on both stories, regularly breaking stunning developments. He raised the question of possible police misconduct in the investigation of the double murders of policemen, Gary Silk and Rodney Miller. And he was way out in front on the biggest legal story of the decade, the outing of lawyer X as a police informer, and the potential now for hundreds of Victoria’s most dangerous criminals to claim unfair conviction.
